Surface technology for moulded parts

The Kunststoff-Institut will support you in the selection, application and assessment of optimal surface finish techniques for moulded parts and moulds.

Surface technology for moulded parts

  • Selection of surface engineering and decoration processes including introduction of new decoration technologies
  • Process development and optimisation, process combinations
  • Symbol and ambience lighting for light engineering applications
  • Plant evaluation and project planning worldwide
  • Process optimisation and reject rate minimisation
  • Selection of suppliers and cost consideration
  • Research & development
  • “Design meets Plastic” design and technology workshops in the surface engineering showroom

Surface testing technology

  • Extensive range of surface testing technology such as colour and gloss measurement, non-contact roughness and topography measurement, surface energy, scratch and abrasion resistance, coating thickness measurement (s.a. testing technology)
  • Support in the drafting of test specifications

Application Centre for surface engineering

The service portfolio of the surface engineering application centre (AOT) includes:

  • prototyping, first samples and small batches
  • coating and parameter optimisation
  • development, testing and qualification of new systems and process combinations

Equipment on site:

  • technical lab electroplating system
  • clean room robot painting system, manual painting cabin
  • PVD coating system (magnetron sputtering)
  • UV hardening system
  • IMD production cell
  • thermoforming line
  • electrostatic flocking station
  • water transfer process
  • marking laser, laser cutting system
  • UV digital printing, pad printing, hot stamping
  • corona, flame treatment, fluorination, plasma
  • parts cleaning, micro shot blasting
  • 3D printer (FDM technology)
  • In our showroom, a great variety of different decorating processes are demonstrated on a moulded part in an inspiring environment.
